ALL OF OUR MAKERS ARE FROM THE HEART OF THE SOUTHERN MINNESOTA
LAKES REGION – That’s what makes PASTIMES special!

Bob and Naomi Jirele

Large wooden spools turn into TV stands, patio tables and more…using different metals for the legs and hardware, and different stain and painting techniques for the finish, no two are exactly alike.  Want one made to order?  They can do that too!

Ann Lueben

Photographer extraordinaire, Ann captures the local flora and fauna, the lakes, and the sunsets and puts them on note cards.  Better than a postcard, you can send a little memory of home or vacation off to someone you love.

Nick Weber and Bailey Thompson, The Foundry LLC

A little creative genius, a CNC machine, repurposed wood and a sheet of metal is all it takes for these two to produce one of a kind originals. From MN ornaments to a compass star showing latitude and longitude, metal is the medium for their art.  They are from Madison Lake and the proud parents of two gorgeous and spunky little girls.

Anna Born

An exceptional Seamstress in her spare time, Anna creates lots of fun with fabric.  From adorable baby bibs, to Wonder Woman pillow cases, she’s a great addition to the shop.

John Muellerliele

Thanks for browsing the Pastimes pages. I’m John Muellerleile (and yes, I am related in some way to all the Muellerleiles in the Lakes area). I grew up in Owatonna where I met my wife Kathy and raised two fine sons. I was hooked on the magic of photography with my very first camera. In 2003 we became “lake people” and continue to enjoy the wonders of nature each and every day. There is so much natural beauty in the Waterville area and I try my best to capture it with a camera. I invite you to browse my photographs by searching “John Muellerleile Fine Art Photography” on Facebook. Many of those framed canvas prints are available for purchase at Pastimes in Waterville – along with a huge variety of art and craft pieces in a beautifully restored building.

Holly Ready

Holly picture

Hello-I live right here in the heart of Waterville.  My husband and I have 3 daughters, a cat and dog.  I am a hairstylist & co-owner of Xpressions salon in Waseca.  I love doing hair and the wonderful people that I have met along that path.  I have always had a love of anything crafty.  I grew up with talented/crafty  ladies in my family.  My Mother, both of my Grandmother’s, Sister and two Aunts by the same name, so crafting was going on all around me.  I have ALWAYS taken pictures and scrapbooked, so the love of papercrafting came very easily.  I remember the first night a friend of mine taught me how to stamp in her kitchen.  I have been hooked ever since, and I think that was over 20 years ago.  I was a Stampin Up! demonstrator for over 10 years, been to conventions and still attend many scrapbook retreats with my awesome friends.  So, with a busy little life, making cards and scrapbooking is a wonderful way to relax. Hope you enjoy all of my ‘one of a kind’ cards and gift tags at Pastimes.

Kate Wilson-Pastimes

For 30+ years, I’ve lived with the ultimate DIYer and Renovator. Our specialty: the renovation and restoration of 19th century homes.
There is huge satisfaction in saving and restoring an older home. My husband has the engineering talent and I love design and finishes. Actively, a mortgage banker specializing in new construction and rehab financing, in my spare time, I’ve always got a paint brush in hand. I’ve often had clients or friends ask me to come help them with color choices, and design picks. There is such a renewed interest in Repurposing and Restoring old things that we thought it would be fun to start a shop specializing in sharing all things that start with RE: Repurpose, Restore, Reengineer, Reimagine. Renovate. We’ve gathered a great many local, talented DIYers together to bring you our passions and our Pastimes at the newly renovated Fahning Building.

Bill Wilson Owner of Pastimes and Chief Renovator

Motto:  If man can make it, Man can fix it.  And he does.  He started early.  In his teens, he bought a house in NE Minneapolis and completely renovated it.  He’s never stopped.

From furniture building to whole house renovations, he’s put his time and talent to good use.   Old pieces of furniture get new life in his workshop.  New pieces of furniture come to life out of old wood.

Caning is one of his pastimes.  He loves to restore antique pieces and find them good homes.  He’s an avid history buff on the side and when he doesn’t have a saw or clamp in his hand, he’s probably reading a great history book.

Sue Myers

Sue is the owner of JC Ryans on Main Street.  Raised by a mother with an upholstery shop, she learned the tricks of the trade at an early age.  She has brought her time and talents to the shop upholstering many of the chairs.  She’s got a passion for designing and making custom draperies and unique window coverings.  She’s also an accomplished framer and does the custom framing for the shop.

Barb Ewald

I am married to my wonderful husband of 45 years, Walt. We have a four legged family pet Molly(a French Brittany Spaniel). We have two daughters, a son, 5 granddaughters and two great granddaughters. I live in Oronoco, Mn in the winter and Lakeview Resort, Waterville, in the April through October Season. I love the people of Waterville as they always welcome everyone back each spring.

I was taught to sew cards by a wonderful Waseca lady named Jean Kuschel. She gave me the most wonderful opportunity to learn how to make these cards. Also, Jean is a great friend as is her husband Bob.

I have sewn all of my life(both by hand and machine) and am self taught. I love doing one of a kind items so card sewing is a fitting hobby for me.

Rhonda Gehrke

Hi! I’m Rhonda. I decided to follow my passion for crafting and creating unique items that you can use in your home and the great outdoors. You can usually find me with a tool in my hand, saw dust in my hair and more paint on me than on my project. But I LOVE what I am doing! I am all about Reinventing, Repurposing, and Reusing.

Becky Block

My love of “lake life” started at an early age. I grew up on a farm near Le Center and loved spending summer vacations staying with my aunts, uncles, and cousins at their lake homes. Water skiing was more fun than farm chores! My husband, Bob, and I have been seasonal campers at Lakeview Resort in Waterville for 10 years now. We consider this area our 2nd home. There’s nothing more beautiful than a breathtaking sunrise over Sakatah, or an amazing sunset over Tetonka.. I am excited to have Pastimes carry my crocheted projects. My grandmother taught me to crochet 50 years ago. I am proud to say I still use her crochet hooks. A little bit of “grandma” is included in each stitch :)

Adam Scholljegerdes

Ice Sculptor.  Painter.  Wall Dog.  Artist.  These are words that only begin to describe Adam.  If you’ve ever taken a trip to Faribault and seen the beautiful mural on the outside of the Peterson Art Furniture Shop or checked out the new Waterville sign, you’ve seen some of his work.  A sign painter for Brushworks by day, he travels with an international group of artists in his spare time, painting murals in small towns across America.  An avid fisherman and outdoorsman as well, you may find him paddling a canoe on the lake or in search of the elusive Walleye.

He brings both his talents and his great sense of humor to Pastimes.

Rachelle Caldwell-Rae’s Ah Natural Products

The question I get asked most is , “How did you get started?” Well, about 4 years ago I broke my leg and made some Christmas gifts for friends, family, ect. They loved the natural soaps and lotions and wanted more. Rae’s has turned into a family business with the help of my husband and two daughters from the gardening of herbs to packaging of our soaps and lotions. I enjoy helping people with the use of a more natural product.  I hope you’ll love them too!

Carrie Guarrero

I grew up with parents who are crafters and have always had a love for fashion and jewelry.  Whether it’s scrapbooking, painting, jewelry making, or simply decorating, I find joy in my hobbies.  I like  putting things together that may bring others a smile, bring back a fond memory, or better yet a laugh!  I love to bring joy to others.  I was raised in the Prior Lake area and recently moved to Waterville, with my husband Dan.  We have seven children with four still living at home.  My full-time work is in mortgage lending as the Branch Manager of Fairway Independent Mortgage in Waterville and I’m also the CEO of a business consulting firm, Time to Get Canned.

When I’m not crafting,  you may find me on the Sakatah trail running or biking or working in my garden.  I love the great outdoors!

Karen Bauer

Hi, I’m Karen Bauer, Waterville, MN. I’ve lived here 10 yrs., married to Dennis for 51 yrs. We farmed and raised our family east of Faribault before moving here. I have always liked crafting, started tole and decorative painting in the ’70’s, sold at several sales and shops for many years, and once ran a consignment shop. I also taught many painting classes to adults. I have always liked the idea of recycling and repurposing for crafting and sewing, and like to make gifts for family and friends. My items for sale at Pastimes are picture display holders using vintage door knobs, letters and charms, and potholders using jeans pockets and novelty fabrics. I’m happy to be a part of this new shop in Waterville.
